One domain purchase and dozens of spam phone calls.
I have purchased a domain on some well known website last Sunday, where I updated my phone number. Since then, I have received dozens and dozens of nonstop spam calls. My information must have been leaked from this website. The spam calls change every time and I have no choice but to switch my phone to airplane mode. It makes me furious.
Looking at my phone and laptop, I am really not sure which apps or browsers are tapping into my location information, my browsing history, my search keywords, my friends network, my purchases, my watching history, my reviews and comments, how many steps I walk, or even listening to my conversation.
I tried to be minimalist regarding online activities. I’d switch off location services. I’d be very careful with the browser trackers. I seldom share anything on social media. But who knows what information of mine has be collected, stored and traded.
This upsets me.
We all know our information gets stored and traded. I mean, only a few days after I put my brand new SIM card in, I got personalized scam calls. The phone service company collects my detailed personal information and stores it on their servers. There are many people have access to my data. I have learned to ignore unknown numbers. I have also learned to accept that the moment I give my information away I don’t control it…
